Postdoctoral Fellow, NASA Astrobiology Institute, Montana State University
Luke is microbial ecologist who specializes in extreme, hot and/or subsurface habitats. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he investigated microbial community dynamics at deep sea hydrothermal seeps in the Gulf of California. Now he works at Montana State University where he studies ancient microbial life still persisting among hot spring communities in Yellowstone and, of course, the bottom of the Lake.
