Shaul a research hydrologist at the USGS focusing on the coupling between groundwater flow, magmatic volatiles and heat transfer in volcanic settings. His research is aimed at better understanding the interaction between the magmatic system and its hydrothermal envelope. He has published several papers on the Yellowstone hydrothermal system.
