Shijun Wu received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Zhejiang University, China, in 2009. He worked in the Earth Science Department, University of Minnesota as a visiting scholar from 2011 to 2012. He is currently an associate professor in the College of Mechanical Engineering, Zhejiang University. His main research interests include deep-sea equipment technology development, especially focused on the instrumentation for studying the temporal variations of hydrothermal activity, including the equipment for collecting gas-tight time-series samples from hydrothermal vents and cold seeps.
