Cathy Whitlock is a Professor of Earth Sciences at Montana State University and co-Director of the Montana Institute on Ecosystems. She received her MS and PhD in Geosciences from the University of Washington and her BA in Geology from Colorado College. Cathy’s research concerns the ecological consequences of past climate change, and the long-term linkages between vegetation, fire, and climate. She has worked in the Yellowstone region since 1980, and her current research extends from the western U.S. to Patagonia, Australia, and New Zealand.
